| Notes | Unillustrated. Printed on the title page: Written to those girls who have not the time or inclination to think and study about the many important things which make up life and living. This book is written as a series of letters to girls who want to learn more about the responsibilities of a woman. According to the introduction, the ideas presented in the letters were drawn from weekly meetings of the first Working Girls Society in which young women discussed how to prepare for "the duties of housekeeper, wife, and mother." Topics covered include: Shopping - Dress ("a matter of very great importance to each one of us"); Men Friends - Prospective Husbands and Wives ("how to select a husband, and other interesting things!"); and, Home Life ("a home should be the brightest, happiest place in the world to the inmates").

| Contextual Notes | Grace Hoadley Dodge, granddaughter of William E. Dodge and great-granddaughter of David Low Dodge, was an American philanthropist. She helped to form the Kitchen Garden Association (later, the Industrial Education Association), the Association of Working Girls' Societies, the Travelers' Aid movement, and the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA).
