The sub-topics include: The work of self-education the work of life - a never-ending progress upward to the throne of God; Palsy of the moral sensibilities; Females not expected to be reasoners; Passive enjoyments sometimes wrong; Indolence in females; Female capabilities - Doing every thing in the best possible manner; Misery and danger of indecision; Particular need of a reform in cookery; Reasons for loving domestic life; The moral lessons of domestic life; A well ordered home a miniature of heaven; Evil of being one minute too late; How Christian visits should be conducted; and, Eating between our meals - its mischiefs. The frontispiece depicts a woman sitting under an arbor and sewing. Beside her is an instrument.
