NotesIn publisher's color pictorial wrappers; color printed on cloth; red cloth spine zigzag-stitched in yellow thread. Dean's rag books trademark ("quite indestructible") on back cover.
Each letter depicts a different trade or occupation.
"O was an organ-man who played about town." The illustration depicts two girls paying an organ-man to hear him play.
"P was a parson who wore a white gown." The illustration depicts an old man wearing a white gown and holding a book.
Contextual NotesDavid Brett was a pseudonym used by illustrator Eugénie Richards for some of her work with Dean. Dean's Rag Book Company, Ltd. was founded in Fleet Street in London in 1903 by Henry Samuel Dean to launch his children's rag book idea.
