A story in verse about Mother Goose and her son, Jack, who buys a goose that lays golden eggs.
Leaf 5 depicts Jack selling his golden egg "to a rogue of a Jew, who cheated him out of the half of his due" and describes his courtship of a lady "sweet as the May".
Leaf 6 depicts Mother Goose turning Jack into the Harlequin to save him from the attacks of the Jew and the lady's father, the Squire.
Contextual NotesAn Archibald Park was operating at 47 Leonard Street, Finsbury, London, from 1836-41, but the work might also have been published by Alexander Park (perhaps Archibald's son) who occupied the same premises from 1842-1863.
