Short verses about children who exhibit good traits such as obedience and contentment, and children who exhibit bad traits such as thoughtlessness and idleness. Contents include: Idleness -- Application -- Contentment -- Thoughtfulness -- Obedience -- Emulation -- Good nature.
These pages illustrate thoughtless behavior and depicts a young girl standing amidst her toys that are strewn about the room. The text reads: "Betsy is thoughtless young and gay, and heedless of her ways; Pays no regard to what you say, nor regards what she says. Her toys are thrown about the room, and then she asks for new; I think, unless she alters soon, some punishment is due."
Contextual NotesThomas Dean's publishing company was located at Threadneedle Street from c. 1800-1855. He published under the name Dean and Munday from 1811-1842.
