NotesPrinted in the introduction: This picture-story book deals with an episode in the War of Resistance Against Japan. It describes how a group of Young Pioneers composed of Chinese and Korean children, like their fathers and elder brothers, waged a courageous, relentless struggle against the enemy during the occupation of northeastern China by the Japanese imperialists. These young boys and girls belonged to a guerilla unit operating under the command of the Anti-Japanese Amalgamated Armies of the Northeast, led by the Chinese Communist Party. Printed in the People's Republic of China. Distributed by Guozi Shudian (China Publications Centre).

This story follows a young Korean girl whose guerilla father is killed by the Japanese, and who decides to fight with the guerilla army to revenge her father's death.
This page depicts two Japanese men pasting a poster to a tree. In the background, another Japanese man sets fire to a Chinese village while the inhabitants leave with their belongings. Printed at the bottom of the page: In 1939 the Japanese got together 80, 000 men. They wanted to cut the Anti-Japanese Amalgamated Armies' ties with the people. They set fire to the smaller villages and herded the inhabitants together in townlets.
