| Notes | Printed in the introduction: This picture-story book deals with an episode in the War of Resistance Against Japan. It describes how a group of Young Pioneers composed of Chinese and Korean children, like their fathers and elder brothers, waged a courageous, relentless struggle against the enemy during the occupation of northeastern China by the Japanese imperialists. These young boys and girls belonged to a guerilla unit operating under the command of the Anti-Japanese Amalgamated Armies of the Northeast, led by the Chinese Communist Party. Printed in the People's Republic of China. Distributed by Guozi Shudian (China Publications Centre). Fourth edition. Translation of "Yang si ling de shao xian dui." This story follows a young Korean girl whose guerilla father is killed by the Japanese, and who decides to fight with the guerilla army to revenge her father's death. The cover depicts the young Korean girl holding a gun and throwing a grenade flanked by a young boy and man, both firing guns. |
