This story is about the travels of Totto, a doll from Africa, and Kimiko, a doll from Japan. They are rescued by two little girls in Italy and are adopted into a family of international dolls where everyone learns to live together happily.
This page depicts the scene that the African doll sees after she arrives in Japan. There are Japanese people wearing kimonos and zori, holding parasols, and drinking tea. In the background are Japanese lanterns and "tiny wooden houses, very pretty and colorful" with sloping roofs. |
