Something has indeed been effected, by way of putting it in check; and the friends of reform have reason to take courage. But...the time has come, it is believed, when more must be done, in respect to children...It is the object of these pages to assist in this important work. Cautionary tales that warn children against drinking. In the "Family Picture" a drunkard is dying. His drunk son has climbed into bed with him and his drunk wife and daughter watch him as he dies. The story suggests that because the children followed their mother and father's example and started drinking, they will also probably die as drunkards. The story ends by warning children never to drink; "if you drink any, even the least, you are in danger." |
