Something has indeed been effected, by way of putting it in check; and the friends of reform have reason to take courage. But...the time has come, it is believed, when more must be done, in respect to children...It is the object of these pages to assist in this important work. Cautionary tales that warn children against drinking. The cover depicts the story "The Morning Dram." In the illustration, the father has just woken up but is already drinking. The son and daughter at his side think that this is normal behavior and it is suggested in the story that the son will probably become an alcoholic as well. In the background, the mother holds the baby and watches sadly. |
