| Contextual Notes | Album that documents surveys to recommend railroad routes that would allow for development of the Alaska Territory. It is unclear which of the Alaska Engineering Commission 1914 survey parties this album documents; however, judging from the locations photographed, it most likely documents the surveys of parties 6, 7, 8 or 9 or the separate expeditions led by Lt. Frederick Mears or Thomas Riggs, Jr., members of the Commission. Captions make reference to parties led by Reaburn, Bacon, and Gray. |
