Written on image: Larss & Duclos photo, Dawson, 1900.
Typed on verso: Claim No. 27, Eldorado. Beside the shaft are shown piles of pay dirt to be sluiced as soon as the spring thaw brought water from thawing glaciers and snowbanks. Eldorado Creek was literally a channel of gold. Not a blank claim was found on its four-mile length and most of the claims were fabulously rich. In 1898, ten million dollars was sluiced out from the Klondike creeks. In early spring, onions, radishes, lettuce and flowers were planted in the dirt which covered the roofs of the cabins. The heat from the inside forced growth.
