| Contextual Notes | A local legend for his innovative bush flying techniques, Bob Reeve's first aircraft was this Fairchild Model 51 (Registered NC5364, construction number 201). He used it for passenger and freight charters, primarily originating in Valdez. Reeve fashioned his own steel-lined ski landing gear for landing on mudflats, a rather unorthodox procedure. He went on to form Reeve Aleutian Airways after World War II.
Dr. Bradford Washburn was a noted explorer and mountaineer who went on to establish the Boston Museum of Science. |
