| Contextual Notes | Herbert Frederick Logan, a wealthy Englishman, founded the Elk Creek Road Company in 1890 in partnership with Seaside businessman. The Company created a single wagon lane road from Seaside to Tillamook Head. In 1894, Logan opened the Elk Creek Hotel (on Ecola Creek) on his 158-acre property. Elk Creek is now known as Cannon Beach. |
