| Contextual Notes | The Treadwell Gold Mine was first staked by Pierre "French Pete" Erussard in 1880. It was later sold to John Treadwell in 1881. By 1882, the Alaska Mill and Mining Company had been established in the area, with the mine fully up and running. |
