Caption on mount verso: This is the first schoolhouse built on Dry Creek Ridge in the Troy area. This picture was taken in 1901. | Contextual Notes | Troy was established in 1892 under the name Huff's Gulch. In 1892 the name was changed to Vollmer and was finallly renamed Troy in 1897. The town was a stop on the Spokane & Palouse Railway (later the Northern Pacific Railway). |
