| Contextual Notes | The Puget Sound Traction, Light & Power Company was incorporated in 1912, which consolidated most of the region's private power and transportation systems. In 1919, the City of Seattle purchased the railway lines from Puget Sound Traction, but was not able to gain exclusive control of power services until 1950. The company (renamed Puget Power) continued to act as a utility provider outside city limits, and later became part of Washington Energy.
