Advertisement Text"The Inferior Sex." Does that mean you? Since there are but two sexes, this title must apply to either men or women and surely men are not lacking in gallantry to the extent that they would claim to be the superior sex. No, this point must be accepted as definitely settled by this toast to woman: "God's first thought was man. God's second thought was woman. As second thoughts are best - Here's to woman!" Think it over and pledge her health - her happy and glorious reign in that mild, wholesome and superior beverage.
Contextual NotesIn 1901, Hans J. Claussen formed the Claussen Brewing Association and opened the Tannhaeuser Brewery in Seattle. Claussen was a founder of the Claussen-Sweeney Brewing Company, which merged with the Seattle Brewing and Malting Company (producers of Rainier Beer) in 1893.
