| Building Notes | Lionel H. Pries studied under John Galen Howard at the University of California at Berkeley, and received his B. Arch in 1920. He earned his M. Arch a year later at the University of Pennsylvania. After studing abroad for a few years, Pries returned to the West Coast and relocated to Seattle in 1928. His designs reflect an interest in modern materials as well as traditional elements. One of his last projects included the design for the Max A. Gurvich house, which adopted Modern approaches within the Beaux-Arts tradition. |
