Building NotesThe Crystal Pool completed in 1915 was one of the most popular recreation spots in the city. The swimming pool was spanned by enormous arched steel trusses supporting a glass roof. Surrounding the pool were tiers of seats for as many as 1,500 spectators. Salt water for the pool was piped from Elliott Bay and heated, filtered and chlorinated. Enormous iron boilers located in the building's basement heated the water. The Crystal Pool had high-relief, neoclassical facades fashioned of glazed terra cotta and corner entries with domes. The building was destroyed and rebuilt in 2005 retaining the old facade as a highrise condo named Cristalla.
