Building NotesJames H. Schack, born in 1871 in Northern Germany, received practical training in architectrure from study in evening schools in Chicago and from work in various architectural offices. When Schack arrived in Seattle in 1901, he partnered breifly with Daniel Huntington before setting up a formal partnership with David J. Myers and Arrigo M. Young in 1920. Schack's work was mostly in the field of commercial buildings, hotel and apartment buildings, and residences. While his designs for the Godwin Hotel are detailed, there is little evidence that it was actually built.
