AbstractThe author illustrates the art of cookery of Thai court, which became prosperous during the reign of King Rama V and has set standard for Thai culinary today. Widely known for her expertise in cooking, Phra Wimadathoe, one of King Rama V's wives, was in charge of Royal court's food in those days. Her legacy can be found today in culinary schools in Thailand. The article is accompanied with several recipes of Thai food in the court and stories of aristocrat Thai women whose skills in cooking were once popular.
