NotesNote taken from a document of unknown origin accompanying some of Harry Hall's photographs: Merrill & Ring, Pysht. Merrill & Ring operated several Willamette yarders in the early days of operation at Pysht. This is a Willamette compound yarder, probably the 12 X 14 which was the first really large machine used at Pysht. Due to the compound gearing a machine of this size would probably equal or even surpass the largest 13 X 18 donkey in main line pulling power. In the picture: Probably Jack McQuinn, Engineer; others not known.
