| Caption | In February 1947, advanced kindergarten and first grade students at Seattle's Magnolia School learned how to type. A group of business machine manufacturers supplied 30 typewriters to the school for two months. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that all of the children were soon typing their own names and those of family members. First grade typists then went on to copy a poem about using handkerchiefs when sneezing. |
