CaptionLana Turner, one of Hollywood's most popular stars, visited Seattle on June 15, 1942, to help sell war bonds. She autographed bond receipts at Victory Square, attended a benefit dance at the Trianon Ballroom and sold bonds at I. Magnin's department store. Ms. Turner promised to kiss anyone who bought a $25, 000 bond at the Star Spangled Bond Rally at the Civic Auditorium that evening.

In this June 15, 1942 photo, Lana Turner has just arrived at Seattle's Victory Square in a jeep. The popular movie star attracted the largest crowds seen in the square to that date. Victory Square was located on University Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues.
