| Title | Driveway at Lake Keechelus, ca. 1937 |
| Photographer | Juleen, J.A. (John Albert) |
| Date | ca. 1937 |
| Caption | At first, automobile travelers through Snoqualmie Pass on the Sunset Highway had to contend with a rough dirt or gravel roadway. This ended in 1934 when Washington state's Governor Clarence Martin dedicated a 17-mile stretch of paved highway through the pass. This photo, probably taken in the later 1930s, shows a car on the paved Sunset Highway at Lake Keechelus, near Snoqualmie Pass. The word "driveway" in the title probably refers to the paved highway itself, not to a private driveway as the term is used today. |
