CaptionThe first flights of the day by naval and air force aviators, including pre-flight inspections as well as briefings, conducted in early morning hours, are known as Dawn Patrol. In 1941 the Army Air Corps formally acquired the Snohomish County Airport and named it after Everett native Lt. Topliff O. Paine. At the end of World War II the airport reverted back to Snohomish County control and civilian use.
