Caption"Revolving sky restaurant takes shape atop the 600-foot Space Needle, spectacular tower of 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Its sturdy tapered 'legs' are formed with largest steel beams produced by U.S. Steel. High-speed elevators will carry diners and sightseers to a panoramic view of distant snow-capped mountains. Restaurant will seat 220."

The tall structure on top of the Space Needle supported a gas-powered flame. This view, taken towards the northwest, shows other fair buildings as well as Queen Anne Hill, the Smith Cove piers, Magnolia and the Olympic Range in the distance.
