CaptionA sudden southwest gale with gusts up to 52 mph hit Seattle on October 21, 1945. The storm blew down power poles and set ships and houseboats adrift. On Lake Union, two houseboats were torn from their moorings and battered against a log boom near the Seattle Gas Company's Northlake Avenue plant.
