TitleAerial of Snoqualmie Falls, near Snoqualmie, ca. 1960
PhotographerScaylea, Josef
Dateca. 1960
CaptionThe Snoqualmie River drops 268 feet at Snoqualmie Falls. The waterfall was spiritually important to the Snoqualmie people who once lived in the area and was a scenic wonder to the settlers who came later. After the Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern Railroad was built along the south shore in 1889, the falls became a popular place for day trips from Seattle.
NotesCaption on verso: Snoqualmie Falls and Snoqualmie Valley - This aerial view shows the falls and the valley through which the Sunset Highway passes over the Cascade mountains to Eastern Washington. To the left of the falls may be seen Snoqualmie Falls Lodge, one of the West's most famous eating places. Ektachrome by Josef Scaylea.
