CaptionGuy Phinney developed Woodland Park during the 1890s. The park had gardens, a zoo, a large greenhouse, and many miles of winding paths through the woods. At that time, Woodland Park included Green Lake.

This photo, taken by Anders Wilse sometime between 1897 and 1900, shows a woman sitting on a bench on the road to Green Lake in Seattle's Woodland Park. The city of Seattle bought the park in 1899.
