TitleClark's Twin T-P's Restaurant interior, Seattle, 1951
PhotographerWebster & Stevens
Date1951
CaptionBefore the 1920s, people traveling by car had few places to eat along the open road. This changed during the 1920s and 1930s. As more people bought cars, restaurant and hotel owners tried to attract business by building eye-catching buildings along major roadways. One of these was Clark's Twin T-P's restaurant which opened in Seattle in 1937.

This photo shows the interior of Clark's Twin T-P's restaurant on Aurora Avenue in Seattle. The Twin T-P's was one of a half dozen Clark's restaurants in the city, all of which served family meals at a reasonable price. None of Clark's other buildings was quite as unusual as this one, which featured Northwest Coast Indian designs on the interior and a Plains form on the exterior.
