	Aerial of Catherine Blaine School from east, Seattle, 1952 Title Aerial of Catherine Blaine School from east, Seattle, 1952 Photographer Webster & Stevens Date 1952 Caption Catherine Blaine Junior High School opened in September of 1952. It was the first school to be planned and financed jointly by the school district and parks department. The site incorporated an existing Magnolia playfield, and the buildings included offices and gymnasiums used by both the school and recreational programs of the parks department. Catherine Blaine was the first teacher in pioneer Seattle who established a school nearly 100 years before this photo was taken. Notes Handwritten on sleeve: Catherine Blaine School from east.
