| Title | Steelworker on the Space Needle during construction, Seattle, 1961 |
| Photographer | Staff Photographer Seattle Post-Intelligencer |
| Date | 1961 |
| Caption | Pacific Car & Foundry fabricated and built the Space Needle's steel structure. The steelworkers worked at great heights assembling the sections. Work sometimes had to be suspended when it was too windy.
Here, a steelworker throws a line to a buddy during the installation of the upper levels of the Space Needle. Judging by the progress made on the structure, this photo was probably taken during the summer of 1961. |
