| Caption | Skagg's Safeway store at 5200 Rainier. Grapefruit are 6 for 19 cents, piece bacon is 25 cents a pound, sliced bacon is 17 cents a pound, pork roast is 19 cents a pound, and butter is 22 cents a pound. A grocery clerk's wages were $15 a week, a good rate. Tuition at the University of Washington was $15 a quarter, and streetcar tokens were 3 for 25 cents with no zone fare. |
