CaptionLarge air-filled pontoons support the roadway of the Lake Washington Floating Bridge which connects Seattle with the area east of the lake. The original pontoons were held in place by 65-ton anchors.

In this July 1939 photo, one of the floating bridge anchors is lowered into place. The Lake Washington Floating Bridge was later renamed the Lacey V. Murrow Floating Bridge.
