| Photographer | Webster & Stevens |
| Date | 1911 |
| Caption | Seattle's two main fire stations burned during the Great Fire of 1889. After the fire, the department built a new brick headquarters building on Columbia Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The department also replaced their volunteer firemen with professionals, upgraded the alarm system, and bought new fire-fighting equipment. This 1911 photo shows Seattle's fire department headquarters. Firemen, fire engines, and the chief's wagon stand in the doorways. |
