| Photographer | Webster & Stevens |
| Date | 1921 |
| Caption | In January 1921, seven members of the Yakima nation traveled to Olympia to appear before the Washington State Senate. An 1855 treaty had guaranteed the Yakima the right to fish the Yakima River both in and out of season, as long as the fish were used for food. Restrictions at the new Prosser Dam, in Benton County, kept the Yakima from one of their traditional fishing grounds, and the Yakima wanted these restrictions lifted. This January 1921 photo shows four members of the Yakima nation who stopped off in Seattle after appearing before the State Senate in Olympia. From left to right: Caesar Williams, Mrs. Kate Williams, Mrs. Homer Watson and Homer Watson. Williams was a chief from Oregon who joined the delegation. Chief Watson was second in authority among all Yakima tribes. |
