| Title | Seattle Art Museum in Volunteer Park, 1933 |
| Photographer | Laidlaw, Charles R. |
| Date | 1933 |
| Caption | Fine arts groups have been active in Seattle since the 1890s. However, it wasn't until 1932 that the Seattle Art Museum opened in Volunteer Park. The museum was built in the simple, clean lines of the new Art Deco or Moderne style. In 1991, the Seattle Art Museum opened its downtown building, and the Volunteer Park building became the Seattle Asian Art Museum. This photo shows the Seattle Art Museum building in Volunteer Park in 1933. |
