CaptionThis photo shows the Grosvenor apartment building under construction at 500 Wall Street in the Belltown neighborhood. At the time, the 18-story building was the largest and tallest single apartment house ever approved by the Federal Housing Administration. The building had 370 residential units, plus stores and doctors offices on the ground floor for tenants as well as the public. Other amenities for residents included a 250-car garage, a self-service laundry and round-the-clock switchboard.
