| Title | Children boarding school buses in North Bend, Washington, December 1937 |

| Caption | In the spring of 1937, the North Bend school board voted to buy new school buses rather than lease them. This upset the people who had leased buses to the town in the past and had driven the children to school. They insisted that the old system was cheaper and that the board had paid for new buses illegally. According to an article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer which included this photo, the controversy grew very heated. In this photo, taken December 3, 1937, North Bend students flock to the three controversial new school buses after the school day is over. |
