CaptionWhen it was completed in 1948, the Mud Mountain Dam was the highest rock-and-earth-filled dam in the world. The dam was built on the White River to prevent massive flooding in South King County and North Pierce County. This photo depicts a suspension bridge built high above the White River for the construction project.
