| Caption | A 1907 report on the resources of Washington State describes Kent as a prosperous place with "electric lighting and water systems, excellent schools, several churches and all the conveniences of an up-to-date town." The city had 2, 400 residents and served as the commercial center for nearby farms, dairies and lumber and shingle mills.
