| Caption | The 1917 baseball season opened April 24 at Seattle's Dugdale Park with a game between the Seattle Giants and a team from Great Falls, Montana. The teams were in the Northwestern League, which also included teams from Butte, Spokane, Tacoma, and other northwestern cities. This photo shows the 1917 opening game at Dugdale Park. The band sits on folding chairs at the edge of the field. Groups of fans in matching hats cheer on their favorite team. A large advertising banner shades the players in the dugout. |
