CaptionBy 1940, almost all of Seattle's street car lines had been converted to bus routes. Most of the old street cars were hauled to the junk yard where they were scrapped. Workers saved some materials for recycling and then burned the remains. Two of the Yesler line cars ended up in museums. This 1939 photo shows cars 143 and 685 being set alight.
