| Caption | By 1925, Kirkland, Washington, had nearly 2, 000 residents. Among the businesses in the city's growing commercial area were several drugstores, a music store, several clothing stores, a shoe repair shop, a hotel, two grocery stores and two real estate offices. This 1925 photo shows the east side of Lake Street in Kirkland's business district. Numerous cars and a delivery wagon are parked along the sidewalks. Kirkland's Central School can be seen on the hill in the northern distance (left center) above and to the left of the Burke & Farrar real estate office. |
