TitleSpring opening of Big Four Inn, ca. 1920s
PhotographerJuleen, J.A. (John Albert)
Dateca. 1920s
CaptionIn 1920, the owners of Snohomish County's Hartford & Eastern Railway built the Big Four Inn and its cottages as a summer resort. Located at the base of Big Four Mountain, nine miles from Monte Cristo, the inn was very popular with tourists who wanted to hunt, fish or just enjoy the scenery. The resort burned in 1949 and was not rebuilt.
This photographic postcard, probably taken in the 1920s, shows the spring opening of the Big Four Inn. The managers and workers have arrived by train to get the resort ready for a new season of visitors.
