| Title | Pine Street facade of Frederick & Nelson, May 1, 1941 |
| Photographer | Webster & Stevens |
| Date | 1941 |
| Caption | In 1918, when Seattle's Frederick & Nelson opened its new department store on Pine Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, some people thought it was too far away from the main retail area on Second Avenue. By 1940, when the company celebrated its 50th anniversary, the downtown retail area had expanded far beyond the store. This photo shows the front of the Frederick & Nelson department store in May 1941. In the mid-1990s, the building was purchased by Nordstrom's department store. |
