| Title | Aerotrain at Union Station, Seattle, 1956 |
| Photographer | Staff Photographer Seattle Post-Intelligencer |
| Date | 1956 |
| Caption | The Aerotrain was General Motors' answer to lure passengers out of their cars and back onto the rails in 1956. Though highly stylish, design features such as extremely lightweight, short wheelbase, single-axle trucks and bus-tuned air suspension caused a very uncomfortable ride at the designed top speed of 100 miles per hour. Even with two prototype Aerotrains touring the country, railways were not interested and the trains retired from service in 1966. |
