CaptionThe Crescent Manufacturing Company was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1883 as Larsen Extract Company. By the early 20th century, the Mapleine artificial maple flavor had become Crescent's flagship product. It made its debut at the Puyallup Fair in 1908, followed by its introduction at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in 1909.
NotesCaption on facing page: In the preparation of Mapleine from the raw materials several processes are necessary, including expressing, clarification, distillation, blending, cooking and final clarification. Nothing but materials of vegetable origin are used in Mapleine.
